Attr Sky 3201 student leans back-PostThis is really fun, and a totally unique experience, enjoyable by anyone from kids on up to grandparents.

Here’s how it works.  After a short but good lesson with your instructor, s/he accompanies you into the wind tunnel.  The grid floor lets the wind through which supports your body, much like floating on a pillow of air.  You can try the maneuvers you’ve learned which are controlled by your body position.  It’s just like skydiving.  Fun to do alone or with others, you go into the tunnel one at a time, either way.  They’ll take photos if you want.  Very safe, and quite the experience!

While I haven’t done indoor skydiving, and don’t dare now  because of a shoulder issue that can’t handle backward pressure, I did do my token share of 140 “fer reals” jumps some years ago, and the fun thing about it, which you can do here, is just move one arm a tad, which makes your body position unequal and starts you into a slow turn.  Move it back into position, and the turn stops.  Tuck your legs up just a tad, and you create a slightly head-high position.  Spread them back out, and you’re parallel to the earth (floor) again.  Just small moves make differences, so it’s really fun to play with.

In terms of exhilaration factor, 60 seconds is no time at all in most other activities, but it’s a whole experience in skydiving.  You get more air time than that, but just saying, it’s not at all comparable, and that’s the case in favor of the skydiving.  It’s truly an experience like no other.

Last but not least, if you’re curious but not sure whether it’s for you until you see it done, the wind tunnel has see-through walls.  You can watch from right outside it.  Usually the instructor will do a demo for spectators, and that’s just outright exciting to see.  There’s also a café in house, and you can see the action from there as well.  Spectators are welcomed.
