Located smack in the middle of easy-park downtown Derry and 12 minutes from Manchester, a companion can browse other stores while the Fiber-ista can browse. This is a super good yarn store with a big stock of top and specialty brand yarns, a big buyout of quilting fabrics, hand-dyed rovings, spinning equipment and related notions (tax free, all). In addition to a gigantic selection of Cascade, Berroco, Noro and many others in all weights, they have really good choices in specialty brands, including husband/co-owner Jerry’s hand-dyed Ivy Brambles yarns, and Jerry is a top notch dyer.
Both he and Cyndi along with other staff also teach knitting, crochet and spinning, from beginning to advanced, and if you’re interested in learning to design knitwear from scratch, Cyndi has a good class on that.
With our tax free shopping, particularly note their cashmere and silk yarns—top quality and gorgeous colorways. Also a good place for some really neat shawl pins, a terrific selection of buttons and check out their yarn bowls which put an end to tangling.
Hours vary by season, so check their website but they’re open 7 days and they keep amazingly brave hours in bad weather. They’re also open late on Fridays because they have a drop-in “sit-and-knit” gathering place downstairs.
