For Merrimack Valley visitors, this is another place to add to your list if you are considering making a daytrip to the Seacoast. In addition to bumming around historic Portsmouth, just over the state line is the town of Kittery, ME which is a factory outlet shopping Mecca, and at the southern end of that is the Kittery Trading Post.
Too often billed as a hunting and fishing equipment place but only because those departments are great for that, this store also is a landmark where you can find all sorts of really good outdoor clothing, footwear, travel accessories, gadgets, cooking things, camping or hiking gear and whatever else could fascinate certain people for hours. It’s fun to browse through, and usually you find something you haven’t seen elsewhere. Truly just over the state line, it’s 8 minutes from Portsmouth, 45 min. from Manchester and while Route 101 East doesn’t have the Currier & Ives beauty that 101West has from the Merrimack Valley, it’s a peaceful and pretty drive, and one of the times when we all appreciate New Hampshire’s absence of obnoxious billboards cluttering the view. You’ll enjoy scenery along the way.
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9am-9pm; Sun. 10am-6pm.
