The second of Michael Buckley’s restaurants to be setting pace in Nashua was a fine dining seafood restaurant. Surf became an immediate buzzword, and with a really great raw bar, to boot. Surf just gained in popularity from there, drawing from all the surrounding towns as well. When it comes to restaurants, Nashua is one thing but Portsmouth (a/k/a “the restaurant capitol of New England) is quite another. Michael opened a sister Surf Seafood on waterfront Bow Street which met with solid approval in a town that cuts no slack.
Surf Seafood continues to be big in Nashua for its super fresh ingredients and the creative culinary flair that earmarks the menus in all Michael’s restaurants. The bar area can be active, the dining room quieter. Not cheap eats, but oh so fine, fine, superfine.
