Two exact replicas of Christopher Columbus’ ships, Pinta and Niña are due to pull into dock at the Badgers Island Marina in Kittery, ME mid-afternoon on Wednesday, June 11 according to Captain Morgan Sanger of the Columbus Foundation which owns and operates the ships, and they’ll be ours for on-board touring from June 12 to June 17. They’ll be leaving on June 18 for points north during their exhibition voyage before heading to New York and onward from there.
The Niña was constructed without the use of any power tools whatsoever, and is considered the most historically accurate Columbus replica ever built. Sister ship Pinta was constructed in Brazil to escort the Niña on her travels.
Self guided tours are being offered from June 12 to June 18, 9am-6pm, costing $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $6 for students age 5-16, with children 4 and under admitted free.
