An excellent museum much loved by children of all ages, this one has had an interesting beginning.
For quite some time Keene was without a children’s museum, and Deb Ganley, MBA, Keene resident and a mother herself, took matters into her own hands. Enlisting support from the community, financial help from local businesses and tapping into the talents of doers like herself, she spearheaded the Cheshire Children’s Museum. It is now a favorite creative and discovery center for children in the Monadnock Region. Lots of real life scenario nooks and crannies, an actual but small real airplane (climb in the cockpit), a rowboat with scenery and lots for toddlers as well.
Additionally, it’s located on the second floor of the Colony Mill Marketplace, a beautifully restored historic building that has shopping opportunities, so moms with kids in strollers particularly, this is where you can save a car seat buckling/unbuckling and stroller pullout/collapsing and get a 3-for-1 out of the trip, a bit of shopping for you, before or after, the museum for the kiddies, and there in-house restaurant/food court too.
