If you’re visiting and have your pooch with you or just want a family day in a super neat park, Sunday June 8 is the annual Paws Walk held by the New Hampshire SPCA in Stratham (inland Seacoast). Activities other than the actual dog walk itself include food vendors, face painting, a zorb and other kids’ activities, lots of vendors of all sorts, exhibits and music including Katy Tiz who will perform after the dog walk is finished.
Registration for the Paws Walk starts at 10am and the walk itself is at noon, choosing either the 1.5-mile or 2-mile walk. Participation fees are $20/pp for adults and $5/pp for children 5 and under. Your canine buddy needs to be leashed, up to date on shots and be able to be near other dogs without being too much of a fuzzbrat.
The NHSPCA in Stratham takes in a huge number of abused, neglected or abandoned pets of all kinds, from bunnies to horses and beyond, and this is a facility that does phenomenal rescue work and adoptions, mostly all through donations and volunteers, so for those supportive of animal rescue but who came without the pup along, you can participate simply by sponsoring other walkers or just registering, and trust that your donation will go to great use.
Last but not least, if you’re a jogger, hiker or a nature loving ambler, Stratham Hill Park is quite a nice place to spend some time, so here’s more on that.
